PROVINCIAL HOCKEY
COUNTRY WEEK CONTINUES WOMEN’S SEMI-FINAL STAGE The Country Week tourney of the : Auckland Hockey Association’s annual ; competition was continued yesterday afternoon at the hockey grounds at Rem u era. Several showers fell during play, and the turf was slightly heavy. A high standard of hockey was witnessed in most games, play in the White Horse Cup matches for the men being particularly fast. A further round in this competition is to start at 3.5 p.m., and tho semi-finals of the women’s matches commenced at 1.50 p.m. today. The winners in the Provincial Cup contest were as follow:—Section A, Thames; Section B, Auckland A; Section C. Whangarei; Section D. Auckland B. All the section winners have gone through the preliminary rounds without defeat. WHITE HORSE CUP Following were tho results in the men’s White Horse Cup competition: Waipa 4 (Spiers 2, Woods, Rogers), v. Whangarei 2 (Hewett 2); Rodney 2 (Grimmer 2) v. Piako 1 (Moore); Franklin 3 (Hore, Dadleytori, Mausey) v. Maniapoto 1 (Wood). PROVINCIAL CUP Following were the results of women’s matches played in the Provincial Cup competition: Section A.—Thames 1 (Miss Griffin) v. Piako 0; Franklin A 2 (Misses Channels, Cathcote) v. Waikato 1 (Miss Reid). Section I?.—Auckland A 3 (Mrs. Hamlin 2, Miss Waters), v. Collegiate 2 (Miss Parsons 2; Kerepeehi 4 (Misses Courtney 3, Berthson) v. Rodney A 3 (Misses Stevenson, Gubb). Section C.—Auckland C 2 (Miss Mullins 2), v. Franklin B 2 (Misses Brown. Tate); Whangarei 1 (Misses Harrison 3. Berrick) v. Waipa 3 (Misses Bell 2, White). Section IT.—Auckland B 5 (Misses Hyde 2, Burton 2. Hayes) v. Northern Wairoa 3 (Miss Car nock 3).
