Obituary

MRS. A. EATON The death has occurred at Pukekohe of Mrs. Elizabeth Eaton, one of Auckland’s early colonists, at the age of 88. Coming to Auckland with her parents, in 1858, Mrs. Eaton later married Mr. Alplieasus Baton, who died 37 years ago. Until a few years ago she lived in Newton, failing health then compelling her to go to her daughter at Pukekohe. Mrs. Eaton is survived by five sons, Messrs. A. Eaton. L. Eaton and E. Eaton, of Auckland, and Mr. .T. Eaton, of Gisborne, and one daughter. Mrs. L Sutton, of Pukekohe. There are 21 grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.

MR. ISAAC DUANE An old identity, Mr. Isaac Duane, died at his residence, Otahuhu, this week at the age of 82 years. He was born in Auckland in 1848, and on leaving school he was apprenticed to the wheelwright trade with Mr. John Currie, and later entered Into partnership with Mr. Patterson, when they carried on business in Karangahape Road. For the past 20 years he had been living in Otahuhu. Mr. Duane married Miss Mary MacHattie, daughter of Captain MacHattie. There were seven children, three of whom survive—Mrs. Weymouth, of Whangarei, Mrs. T. Wilson, of Gisborne, and Mr. Frank Duane, of Otahuhu. He also leaves a widow. There are 25 grandchildren.
