KINGSFORD SMITH MAY FLY FROM ENGLAND

Wing-Commander Kingsford Smith has been approached by an Eastern company which is constructing an experimental plane regarding an Oak-land-Tokyo flight not before next June. His brother, Mr. R. H. K. Smith, said today the plane will be either a three or four-motored cruising machine, with a radius of 6,000 miles. Kingsford Smith goes East today. lie hopes to leave London on August 13 in a small English plane on a projected ten-day six-stop flight to Sydney. A small biplane in which WingCommander Kingsford Smith and his navigator, Mr. P. Saul, were flying to San Francisco from Santa Maria, was forced down into a field from a height of 3,700 feet owing to a broken magneto shaft. The airmen landed safely, and were not injured.
