EX-SERVICEMEN’S REUNION
FUNCTION AT OTOROHANGA From Our Own Correspondent OTOROHANGA, Monday. The second annual reunion of the Otorohanga District Ex-Servicemen’s Association was held on Monday evening. Alajor IT. H. S. Westmacott presided. Air. E. H. Sharp represented the Auckland Returned Soldiers’ Association. An excellent musical programme was provided by Phil Swift’s orchestra, and the toast list was a lengthy one. Air. Sharp urged all present to affiliate and link up with the parent body. Air. R. G. H. Boles announced that about £7 had been collected in the hall toward helping those in need. The following resolution was carried: “That this meeting is definitely opposed to the repeal of the compulsory clauses of the Defence Act, and that if economies are effected, the defence system should not be curtailed.” It was mentioned that it was proposed to form an Otorohanga branch of the National Defence League of New Zealand.
