Under the "Totem-Pole"
Letters to Redfeather are answered as follow: —
Red Star: Congratulations, Red Star. Your “Jewels” has won pride of place. Everyone liked that piper of yours, who travelled the world in a moonshine coat, and I think he has found a place in many Wigwam scrap-books. A good wish for the little faithful one.
Lone Singer: You have surely been having a feast of music, Lone Singer. I quite agree that music is one of life’s greatest raptures. Thank you for your interesting letter. Are the moonbeams still at large on that stretch of water? Green Bough: I enjoyed your story very much, Green Bough, and you will find your name in the highly commended list. There is a lesson tucked away in that simple tale. Glint of Gold: Thank you for your Birkdale report, Glint of Gold. Guide news should always be addressed to Redfeather and not to the Dawn Lady, as the “Girl Guides’ Corner” appears only in the Wigwam page. Star Shower: Your true story Is very well told, Star Shower, and I hope to be able to find space for it later. Flying Cloud: So you have been Deeping into Happy Town and revelling in “The Eve of a Birthday?” That poem has caused much comment. Little sister will be delighted with those two white rabbits, but I can see that your coal-black friend is still first favourite with you. A Wigwam thought for Flying Cloud.
Spear Thrower: My best thanks, Spear Thrower. I was glad to have your Edendale notes.
Gold-tipped Feather: Yes, the prizewinning poems were excellent. Goldtipped Feather, and did you read “The Piper,” by Red Star? Your story has placed you high in the list. Flying Beetle: A good wish for this faithful scribe. I wonder if you clipped your last poem from the Wigwam page? Deerfoot: Thank you, Deerfoot. lam glad that St. Aidan’s Troop has had another successful year. Maid of the Pines: Further success for this young story-writer. All the Wigwam readers will enjoy your tale of “The Wind and the Irises.”
Gold Moccasin: Your Guide news has joined the great scroll, Moccasin. My best wishes to the Hikurangi Company.
