WESTFIELD SALE
DEMAND FOR CATTLE BRISK VALUES MUCH FIRMER Messrs. Alfred Buckland and Sons Limited, report that at their weekly fat stock sale at Westfield today they yarded cattle to the number of 197 head, as compared w’itli 260 at last week's sale. The cattle offered comprised 155 steers and 42 cows and heifers. There was a keen demand throughout and values were considerably firmer especially for choice and prime dualities. Quotations:
Extra choice ox sold to £2 j 1001bcholes and prime ox, £1 17s to £1 19s’ secondary and plain ox, £1 14s to £1 16s; prime young cow and heifer beef' £1 15s to £1 17s; ordinary cow beef £1 7s to £1 14s. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £l6 17s 6d to £l7 10s for steers from Mangere; heavy prime steers, £ls 15s to £l6 15s; lighter prime steers. £l4 to £ls 12s 6d; light prime steers. £l2 10s to £l3 17s 6dsmall and .unfinished steers, £8 15s to’ £l2 7s 6d; extra heavy prime cows and heifers, £ll 10s to £l2 6s; heavy prime cows and heifers. £lO 5s to £li 7s 6d; lighter prime cows and heifers, £8 to £lO 2s 6d; other killable cows £5 5s to £7 17s 6d.
