HOCKEY TOURNEY
COUNTRY WEEK BEGINS AT REMUERA RESULTS OF THE PLAY Marked enthusiasm characterised the opening of the annual Country Week hockey tournament for men and women players from all over the province which begah at Remuera yesterday afternoon. Play is under control of the Auckland Hockey Association and the Auckland Ladies’ Hockey Association. The men’s division has tix teams engaged and the women's 3 6. The competition will be continued throughout the week and the finals played on Friday. A meeting of team managers yesterday morning decided, in view of the Rugby match between Auckland and Britain, not to play the usual Town v. Country game which was to have been played on Saturday. Advice was received that the Thames-Hauraki team could not take part in the competition, and the draw was rearranged. No morning matches will now be played. YESTERDAY’S PLAY MEN’S SECTION .
