SCULLIN MUST FIGHT TO CARRY BUDGET WILL MEET CREDITORS United P.A.—By Telegraph Copyright Reed. 10.20 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. Protests against the Federal Budget taxation proposals continue throughout the Commonwealth. An association lias been formed in Sydney to conduct a State-wide campaign against excessive taxation. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. H. Scullin, says the Government is seeking to achieve in the bdst possible way stability in the nation’s finances and to bring about a position where Australia can pay her creditors and look the world in the face. A message from Fremantle says Sir Otto Niemeyer, the noted financial authority who was invited to Australia by the Federal Ministry to consult with Mr. Scullin upon the country’s finance, arrived by the liner Cathay from London. DRASTIC STATE ECONOMY Reed. 10.25 a.m. MELBOURNE, Today The Victorian State Ministry is undertaking a policy of drastic economy throughout all the Government departments. It is expected all increments to public servants and teachers will be stopped in the current year and a reduction in certain salaries will be attempted.
