MOTOR-CYCLE AND CYCLE

FATAL WELLINGTON CRASH

ONE KILLED, ONE BADLY HURT Press Association WELLINGTON, Monday. A collision between a motor-cycle and a bicycle in Jackson Street, Petone, this evening, resulted in the death of the cyclist and serious injuries to the motor-cyclist. The cyclist who was killed was Mr. Francis Edmund Blake, aged 45, of Elizabeth Street. Moera. The motorcyclist was Mr. Lawson John August, aged 21, of Randwick Road. Lower Hutt. "At the time of the accident, Mr. Blake, who was a married man with a family, was riding his bicycle toward Pipe Bridge, preparatory to turning toward Moera, when he was struck by the motor-cycle ridden by Mr. August, who was proceeding in the same direction. Both men were thrown to the bitumen track. Among other injuries Mr. Blake received a fracture of the skull. Death was almost instantaneous. Mr. August, who is an insurance agent, received severe injuries to the head and right thigh. He was taken to the hospital In an unconscious condition and was not identified until a late hour.
