NEWMARKET LOANS POLL
RESULTS OF THE VOTING Two loan proposals for road improvements. amounting to £ 33,500, were placed before ratepayers in the Newmarket Borough on Thursday. The final figures are now available. In the minor issue—the proposal to raise a loan of £4,500 to acquire properties at the corner of Gillies Avenue and Crowhurst Street in order to straighten a bend in the road—the voting was as follows: For the proposal 245 Against 140 Informal 11 The estimated cost of the widening of Station Street is £ 29,000. The voting was as follows: For the proposal 198 Against 198 Informal 8 A special meeting of the council will be held on Tuesday to decide what action to take as regards this poll.
