WRESTLING: ROUND 2
ALLEY STEPS INTO THE RING PAYS FOR ADVERTISEMENT “I figure The Sun's support in the advancement of wrestling in New Zealand was to such an advantage to the wrestlers and to the association that 1 do not understand the attitude of the association, and I am prepared to pay for the advertisement myself." That is lt'ow Tom Alley, who meets McDougall at the Town Hall on Monday, regards The Sun. “I realise that a large majority of the sporting public reads your paper for its wrestling news and reports,” lie says, “and consequently neither the association nor the wrestlers can afford to lose The Sun's support. Your paper played a large part in helping along wrestling last year and I am grateful. That is why I am paying for the advertisement myself, irrespective of the association. “I hope the association will reconsider its decision and realise the value oFThe assistance The Sun has given in the past and which, I hope, It is still prepared to give in the future, provided it receives an equal ‘break’ with other Auckland newspapers.”
