200,000 BONUS VOTES WILL BE GIVEN AWAY NEXT WEEK ONLY
LIKES PRIZES
Semi-Final Bonus Period
Monday begins the semi-final bonus in The Sun's Croat Popularity Compe(ition. During the week ami until Saturday, the 19th instant, a special I,allot of 200,000 extra votes will bo allotted for each total of £lO in subscription money. This is next to the last bonus period, and is the laigest number of votes which can be obtained for £lO of subscription money during the balance of the campaign. Today we have dropped from the uat the names of all contestants who !mve turned in less than £lO in sub--crlDtion money. The announcement nf this fact was made two days ago nnd since the count was made, various contestants have rushed in with their übscriptions In order to qualify for a nrize Contestants whose names are h-opped from the list, and who qualified yesterday or today, will be placed liack in the list in Tuesday’s, count. The list now is down to the actual , ompetitors. Every competitor in this list will positively win a prize, and ■very other contestant who enters must qualify by turning in £lO in subscription money before his name will be replaced in the list. nominations close The campaign is still open for nominations, and new contestants may enter the race up until July 26, after which date nominations will close. The only contestants who are eligible to win prizes, will be those whose names appeared in the contestant list on or before July 26. This eliminates 'Dark Horses” from coming in at the last minute. This race is fair and impartial, and every safeguard for the contestants competing is made. STILL PLENTY OF OPPORTUNITY Thera is still plenty of opportunity to reach a high place in this campaign. Contestants who are down in the list have the opportunity to jump to the top, and even if a contestant comes ia sixth, seventh or even eighth, ht is assured of winning a big prize. The prizes are all valuable, and the winners of the first seven or eight
will receive prizes of such value tha tliev are worth many times the effor expended to win them.
MRS. H. E. LONG 109 Bank Street, Whangarei
‘‘You have no idea how very hard I am 'trying to secure subscriptions to The Sun in your Prize Competition. You will understand better when I tell you that I am a widow and nearly 70 years of age. I am doing my very best in your campaign, as I want to get the gas cooker very badly. Of course, if I am fortunate enough to secure a bigger prize, well and good, but if I get the gas cooker 1 shall be a very happy womau. I have many friends here in Whangarei who enjoy The Sun, and while it is hard for me to get around, I am having a great deal of pleasure out of the campaign.” These are the sentiments of a dear old lady from Whangarei, Mrs. H. E. Long. Her pleasant smile and pleasing manner have won her hosts of friends.
