“THE SHANNONS OF BROADWAY” “The Shannons of Broadway," James Gleason’s rollicking, record-breaking comedy, with new features that make it bigger and better than the stage production, is at the Plaza Theatre as a Universal all-talking and music picture. Gleason and Lucile Webster Gleason, rated as onp of the greatest comedy teams in history, themselves have

the title roles in the picture, with a supporting cast that is one of the strongest ever assembled for a picture of type at Universal. The cast includes Mary Philbin, a film star of the first rank: Harry Tyler, Gladys Crolius, and Helen Mehrmann. Robert T. Haines, and others.

Three snappy new song hits, “Get Happy,” “Someone to Love Me,” and “Living the Life of Riley,” were written especially for the picture by Klages and Greer, and one of them is sung by Gleason himself, the first tiine he has ever done a. singing number in public. The Plaza’s new programme . also includes “Hot For Paris,” the delightfully amusing and fast-moving romantic comedy which delighted audiences at the Civic recently, Victor McLaglen, El Brendel, and Fifi Dorsay are the stars. CONCERT ON SUNDAY AT REGENT THEATRE At the charity entertainment to be presented in the Regent Theatre on Sunday evening by Mr. Wliiteford Waugh’s Orchestra, items will be given by the following artists: Miss Ida Walker (contralto), Mr. Ernest Snell (baritone), Mr. Albert Gracey (violinist). Mr. Jack Davey (baritone), and Mr. Pete Simpson (organist-). In addition, the film, “The Fugitives,” starring Madge Bellamy, will be presented. accompanied by suitable music from Mr. Wliiteford Waugh’s orchestra. DANCING AT DIXIELAND Dancing will be enjoyed at the popular Dixieland Cabaret this evening, when the usual Saturday Carnival Night will be held. The latest and brightest of music Will be played by the Dixieland Dance Band.
