C. EMERSON HAS THREE HORSES IN TRAINING
RODE 877 WINNERS The announcement made some time ago that Riccarton jockey C. Emerson intended to turn his attention to training is likely to bear good fruit. His first charge was a two-year-old Woodend Glentruin filly, which he is now preparing for the new season. She is said to be a very promising youngster. Early in the week Emerson made two additions to his stable in Standard Rose and Royal Sceptre, both rising two-year-olds. The former is by Rosanoi from The Kiss (by Boniform), and Royal Sceptre is by the same sire from Bonnie Olive. Mr. A. Cambridge, of Dunedin, is the owner of the pair. During his riding career Emerson rode some good horses, and won on no less than 877 winners. It will be surprising if he fails to continue the success in the racing game in his new sphere. Luckily in one sense. Pink Coat was left as a colt, and he has a certaii value as a stud proposition. Pint Coat's most notable success was the winning of the all-aged classic, the Harcourt Cup. at the Wellington Racing Club's spring meeting.
