DROWNED IN TRENCH
INQUEST ON SMALL BOY From Our Own Correspondent HAMILTON, Thursday. A verdict of accidental drowning was returned at the inquest yesterday concerning the death of William Ronald Hammond, aged 21 months, who was drowned in a trench at a camp at Raglan. Louisa Mavis Hammond, mother of the child, said she missed the little boy and found him floating face down in a rubbish trench which was full of water. The jury added a rider drawing the attention of persons in charge of camps to the necessity of safeguarding dumps and places likely to collect water, especially where small children are about.
