COMPENSATION SETTLED
INJURED WORKMAN’S CLAIM
A claim for compensation by a ■waterside worker, Archibald Wallace Young (Mr. Sullivan) against Nearing Company," Ltd. (Mr. Bagnall), in the Arbitration Court, was settled yesterday by agreement between tho Parties.

The plaintiff was injured in assistin the unloading of the Port Alma Frince’s Wharf on August 2. 1929. «© was removing a section of th«» ship’s railing, when it came away sada©my, causing him to lose his balance ?na fall into the harbour. In falling ha struck the lower stringer of tho wharf, and he claimed he fractured hi* H *uill, resulting in permanent tota” oss of hearing in the left ear and braln y t 0 the risht €ar and tC> th< * , Compensation at the rate of £3 Ss 5d hhd been paid until January 17, 1930. hut the defendant firm denied that Plaintiff had fractured his skull or had his hearing through the accident. ,Th© court entered judgment for Plaintiff in the terms agreed upon, granting him four months’ full compensation from January 17, and 15 per rJJ** of full compensation for permanent partial disablement for the remainder of the statutory period. Costs amounting to £lO 10s were allowed. £6 16s for witnesses.
