LADIES’ NIGHT
Takapuna Orphans’ Club Entertains
ENJOYABLE PROGRAMME
The Takapuna Orphans* Club gave a ladies’ night yesterday in the Masonic Hall, Takapuna, and a programme similar to that presented at the ordinary gatherings of the club was given so that the guests might see what the customary procedure was like. Mr. L. G. Minogue, the president, welcomed the guests and gave a brief resume of the club’s activities. The hail was decorated for the occasion with brightly-coloured Hags. The Orphans’ Orchestra, under Mr C. Wood, played a number of wellchosen selections. During the evening items were contributed by Mr. Ernest Snell, Brother Stanley Pritchard, Mr. L. Axford, Mr. A. Sutherland and Brother Trevor de Clive Lowe. The accompanist was Mr. Luscombe. Among those present were: Mrs. L. J. Minogue. who wore a frock of flame georgette, Mrs. J. W. Williamson, black lace; Mrs. Bryce Halt, black taffeta. Mrs. J Foster, black and yellow floral crepe de chine; Mrs. Alec VVatt, black georgette, Mrs. C. E. Archibald, cedar rose georgette, Mrs. K. Sim, pink georgette and silver lace, Mrs. Hector h* Preston, frock of mist-blue taffeta. Mrs. Bullimore, bronze satin; Airs. Marks, orchid shaded georgette; Mrs. A. C Faulkoner, moon mist blue georgette. Mrs. Wood, black souple satin; Mrs Miller,, black embossed georgette; Mrs. L. L. Speedy, pink floral satin; Airs. Hawes, black and silver embroidered satin.

Wood, black ring velvet. Miss Beryl Gudgeon, black georgette; Miss Clarke, cyclamen crepe satin; Miss D. Grant Cowen, unrelieved black souple satin: Miss Tucker, beige lace; Miss Edmonds, powder blue lace and diamente.
