SIX BOYS DROWNED
VAIN RESCUE EFFORT AT HOLIDAY TRAGEDY ♦ THOUGHT THEY WERE JOKING United P.A. —By telegraph —Copyright Reed. 10.15 a.m. LONDON, Wed. A bathing tragedy occurred at Blackpool, where 91 boys belonging to St. Aldan’s School were camping. The majority of the boys went into bathe and several who were caught in the receding tide threw up their arms and shouted for help. Bystanders at first thought it was part of the general merriment, and when they realised the danger it was too late to rescue them all. Six were drowned, and two were gallantly rescued.
