ICE CREAM MERGER
ROBINSON AND POLAR CO’S SHAREHOLDERS CIRCULARISED A proposal is on foot to amalgamate Robinson’s Ice Cream Company with the Polar Ice Cream Company. These are two of the largest icecream companies operating in Auckland at the present time. Robinson’s company absorbed the Astrella Company some time ago, and it is now proposed to absorb the Polar Company and continue operations as one big company. The Polar Company’s shareholders are being circularised today asking them for opinions of the proposal. If this takes place the Robinson company’s capital will probably be increased to £IOO,OOO and the Polar Company shareholders will receive preference and ordinary shares in the new companj r . The Robinson Ice Cream Company announced a 10 per cent, dividend yesterday, and the sale of shares on the Stock Exchange realised 25s Gd. Sellers were asking 275. The amalgamation is expected to bring about economies in the manufacture and administration of ice-cream by lowering overhead expenses.
