£ CARPENTER’S SUICIDE
INQUEST HELD -YESTERDAY A verdict of suicide while in a worried condition was returned by the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., yesterday, at the adjourned inquest into the death of Walter Nathaniel Lewis Valentine, aged 51, a carpenter, who was found with his throat cut at his home in Prospect Road, Glen Eden, on June 22*
According to Ada Marcia Remer. niece of deceased, Dr. Alexander called to see Mrs. Valentine on June 29 and asked to see Valentine. On going to the washhouse witness found Valentine sitting on a bed with a severe wound in the throat. She believed that lie had worried considerably over his wife’s health, though she had never heard him talk of sutdide.
I>r. W. A. Alexander said he had known Valentine for about three weeks. The man, who was out of work, appeared to. be depressed. Though witness had succeeded in stopping the bleeding, .Valentine had died five minutes after being found.
