MAJESTIC

“THE GREEN GODDESS” George Arliss is at the Majestic Theatre in his second production for Warner Bros. The selection of “The Green Goddess” for this great actor’s vehicle was a splendid one, for here is a story packed with thrills, humour, tragedy and pictorial beauty. William Archer’s play was one of Mr.. Arliss’s greatest stage successes and bringing it to the screen adds another production to the list of outtsanding motion picture successes. “The Green Goddess” is a perfect melodrama and the reader who is looking for an evening of smart, exciting entertainment had better make it a point not to miss this fine new production. Of course, George Arliss’s performance is delightful. What an actor this man is! Ho is ably assisted by Alice Joyce, IT. B. Warner, Ralph Forbes and Nigel de Brulier. You all know these performers and the excellent work they do, so suffice it to say that in “The Green Goddess” they uphold their excellent reputations. The story is of a weird, uncivilised people, fantastic religious rites, strange mountainous country and the cruel though charming ruler of the mysterious kingdom. When three British subjetes are forced to abandon their plane in the midst of this, things happen fast. The programme at the Majestic TNeatrc also includes several enjoyable talkie featurettes.
