STRAND
“SIDE STREET” TOMORROW The current programme at the Strand Theatre, which has delighted audiences during the past week, will have its finat presentation there this evening. This is headed by “Honky Tonk.” the talkie of New York night club life, starring Sophie Tucker, and its accompanying programme. Heralded by critics as one of the outstanding films of the year, “Side Street.” Radio Pictures’ all-talking melodrama, opens tomorrow at the Strand Theatre. Unusual interest centres in the fact that in “Side Street.” the three Moore Brothers — Tom, Matt and Owen —appear costarred for the first time in their long screen careers. The story provides an admirable characterisation for each of the three stars. It concerns a family of moderate circumstances living in New York City. Tom is a policeman. Matt an ambulance surgeon. and Owen a racketeer, who carefu'ly hides from his family his method of livelihood. Eventually. Tom is called iipuii to round up the gang of which Owen is the head. ’When the latter finds he has ordered his lieutenants to take his own brother “for a ride” he beats Tom to the rendezvous, and pays with his own life. It is one of the most gripping and sensational climaxes ever portrayed. In addition to the Moore Brothers, the cast includes Kathryn Perry, wife of Owen Moore, Emma Dunn, Frank Sheridan. Walter McNamara, Mildred Harris and Dan Wolheim.
