MUSIC WEEK PLANS
PROGRAMME ARRANGED CONCERTS AND RECITALS At. this week’s meeting of the Auckland Music Week Committee, the programme was finally decided upon. The week will begin on Saturday, August 16, and will conclude on Saturday, August 23. The following artists, orchestras, and choirs will give concerts and recitals: Saturday, August 23.—Municipal Choir concert in Town Hall, at S p.m. Sunday, August 24.—Organ recital by the City Organist, Mr. Maughan BarneW, in the Town Hall, at 3 p.m.; Municipal Band concert in the Town Hall at S p.m. Monday-, August IS.—Lecture by Mr. Barry Coney in the Lewis Eady Hall, at 3.30 p.m.; concert by the Male Voice Choir, the Blind Institute Orchestra, and the Aeolian Orchestra, in the Town Hall, at S p.m. Tuesday, August 19. —Piano Students’ Association concert, in the Lewis Eady Hall, at 3 p.m.; Auckland Chamber Music Society concert in the Lewis Eady Hall at 8 p.m.; primary school children’s concert in the Town Hall, at 8 p.m.
Wednesday, August 20.—Concert by the Auckland Boys’ Grammar School, St. Cuthbert’s College, the Epsom Girls’ Grammar School, and other schools, in the Town Hall, at 3 p.m.; recital by the Misses Allen and Toner in the Lewis Eady Hall, at 3.30 p.m.; concert by the Auckland Operatic Society and Mr. Ted Henkel’s Orchestra in the Town Hall at 8 p.m. Thursday, August 21.—Concert by the Roman Catholic schools, in the Totvn Hall, at 3 p.m.; concert by the Auckland Choral Society and the Bohemian Orchestra, in the Town Hall, at 8 p.m. Friday. August 22.—Dance recital by Miss Whistler and her students, in the Lewis Eady Hall, at 3 p.m.; Maori concert in the Town Hall, at 8 p.m. Saturday-, August 23.—Municipal Band, in the Town Hall, at 8 p.m.
Municipal Band Concert The Auckland Municipal Band, under Mr. Christopher Smith, will give a concert in the Town Hall on Saturday evening. Tyvo new pieces. Nicolai’s “Merry Wives of Windsor” and a Spanish Suite, “La Feria,” will be among the band numbers, and Madame Dorothy- Cronin, F.T.C.L., will sing special vocal items.
