TAKAPUNA SCHOOLS
REFERENDUM ON BIBLE READING A referendum of parents of children attending the Takapuna schools is to be taken on the principle of the Xelson Bible Reading in Schools, according to a decision of the school committee on Monday evening. The Rev. J. Hiddlestone presided. The committee decided to ask the Takapuna Borough Council to carry out the fumigation of the schools, as had been promised, it being stated that
the results of last year’s protective measures were fully justified in the attendances and the general health of the children. .Further efforts are being made to augment the funds for the free distribution of cocoa to children during the winter months. Up to the present the sum of £l2 13s has been collected. The committee’s statement of accounts showed that careful supervision of expenditure would be necess; >- to keep the expenditure within th capitation grants. It was stated th funds would have to be raised ter projected improvements to the grouive at Milford, and to provide a new b -- ketball court at the Takapuna Soli«- l.
