MANAGERS APPROVE NEW CONSTITUTION GRADING CONTESTS HELD The new constitution defined at the New Zealand Dairy Factory Managers’ Association Conference last month at Palmerston North was approved by the Auckland provincial branch of the association at the opening of its conference in the City this morning. The first procedure under the new rules was the election of a provincial executive for the Auckland' district. The officers elected were:—Mr. A ,T Garry (Ngaruawaliiii), Mr. G. J. Arnold (Moerewa), Mr. T. Walker (Wabaroa). Mr. J. B. Brown (Frankton Junction), Mr. L. L. Kubis (Te Funinga). Mr. A. M. Meliarry (Motumaoho) and Mr. \V. Hollis (Hinuera). Mr. P. C. H. Petersen, Dominion jtresident of the association, and Mr. A. M. Stirling, provincial secretary and a member of the New Zealand executive, are ex-ofllcio members of the provincial executive. On the motion of Mr. C. S. J'cster (Ngatea) the meeting agreed to hold a conference in the spring. Managers are to meet on September IS. and assistants on September 25. Mi-. Petersen reported on the principal business conducted at the Palmerston North conference, and pointed out that the advisory council had been abolished under the new constitution, while the Dominion executive was appointed on a different basis. After the meeting, managers and assistants took part in a grading competition for butter and cheese, supervised by the chief Government gradtr, Mr. C. E. Wood. A luncheon was held at Hotel Auckland, aifd, this afternoon, discussions on dairy produce questions were begun at a meeting in the Chamber of Commerce. The grading competitions are proving a popular feature of the conferences of factory managers. The eminent officials decide their owr. grades on the butter and cheese, and the managers and assistants are required to decide their points of quality. The closeness of the competitions in the past has indicated that the grading system in New Zealand is satisfactory.
