NEW TECHNICAL SCHOOL
FUNCTION AT OTOROHANGA Special to TIIE SUN OTOROHANGA, Tuesday. ' The new manual and technical school at Otorohanga was officially opened yesterday by Mr. James Boddie, a member of the Auckland Education Boa rd. " Mr. H. G. Corbett, chairman of the Otorohanga District High School Committee, said the roll number had doubled in six years, and although consolidation was bringing in pupils from a radius of six miles, it had not closed more than one school. Mr. .Bocldie said that for three years no steps had been taken for providing for manual and technical training m Otorohanga, but in 1929 the board applied for a grant, and although Opotiki. To Puke. AVaiuku and Whakatane applied for similar schools, Otorohanga was given preference, owing to a more satisfactory time-table being capable of arrangement in conjunction with To Kuiti and Pio Pio. A grant was authorised and the building built and equipped at a cost of J 21.994. The roll number was 06 boys and 64 girls.
