It resulted in a bare victory for us. On the following Friday two new members were welcomed into the troop. During the last few months the roll number of the troop has considerably increased. “On June 27 a picture night was held in aid of the troop funds. It was a great success. A prize of a free ticket to the pictures for a month for the Scout who sold the most tickets was won by Patrol Leader Batkin. On the twenty-eighth at our meeting Patrol Leader Foster received his First Class badge. • * • Ellerslie Troop Winged Arrow reports for the Ellerslie Troop:— “The past month has been an interesting one for the Ellerslie Troop. Every boy who has a suggestion for livening up parades and cultivating the spirit is asked to let his patrol leader and the Scoutmaster know abou't it. “The patrols have been reorganised; they are to pick their own names, with the proviso that they will have a good patrol call. We are busily searching for games that will incorporate useful Scouting knowledge. “One idea, now put into working, is a patrol leaders’ meeting. Every Tuesday fortnight the leaders meet at the Scoutmaster’s for an hour’s instruction, also preparing the programmes for succeeding parades. “The whole troop is feeling thoroughly rejuvenated, and is looking forward to a successful end to the year.” First Cornwell News The initiation of the First Cornwell Rovers has been postponed until July 24. Scoutmaster H. Ely, of the Shackleton Troop, will take charge of the First Cornwell Scouts at their meeting next Friday night while Scoutmaster Taylor is absent on business. Silver Tongue writes that the First Cornwell Pack entertained the Edendaye Cubs, under Cubmaster Livingstone, on a recent Thursday evening. The function took the form of a pound night, and the time was spent in playing games and running relay races. Supper was provided by lady volunteers of the Cornwell committee. The First Cornwell Pack was represented at the Commercial Travellers’ cash and clothes drive.
