EFFORTS TO AVOID CLASHING LABOUR DAY FOR AUCKLAND At a preliminary meeting of th« Dates Committee of th* Ne* Zealand Trotting Conference, th« question of the clashing of dates either with racing or trotting clubs was considered, when the following recommendations were made. The New Brighton Trotting Club hari applied for 6, October u. December 13 and March 14. as tbt dates for tlit* new season. As South Canterbury Jockey Club has vranged October IS as the second dav of its meeting, the committee decider to recommend that Xew Brighton should cancel its date of October ft and. instead, hold a two days’ menint on February 28 and Margil 2. NORTHLAND CLUB The Northland Trotting Club. Whangarei. which proi>osed to race on October 27—Labour Day—the saint date as the second day of the Auckland Trotting Club's Spring Meeting has been asked to select another datt Already the Waikato Hunt Club hold* its annual race meeting on that da* and three fixtures in the one provinr* on the one day would be to the disadvantage of all clubs concerned. “Abaydos” understands that th* Northland Club will apply for Saturday.
