ONLY FEW DAYS REMAIN TO GET 300,000 EXTRA VOTES

Contestants Should Secure Subscriptions at Winter Show

The Sun’s great Popularity Campaign is speeding along toward its final stages. Saturday, July 12, marks the close of the big 300,000 bonus period. Contestants are working hard to get a bonus and then make up another. Some of the contestants are planning to make up their bonus during the Winter Show, which opens today. The Sun has a very attractive bootli portraying the campaign prizes. With the vast number of people that will be in attendance at the Winter Show, contestants should be able to secure considerable subscriptions at the campaign booth. Receipt books and supplies will be given out at the booth, and every assistance will be given the contestants who are working for subscriptions during the show. HOW THE CAMPAIGN WILL CLOSE Many contestants are asking how the campaign will close. The campaign will close at the office of The Sun, Wyndham Street, Auckland, promptly at 4 p.m., August 2, and subscriptions may be turned in to the Campaign Department up to that hour. All subscription money must be in the campaign office by the stroke of four Contestants living in country towns must not mail their subscriptions the last day as they will NOT be counted. Only subscriptions which are received in the office by 4 p.m., August 2, will be counted. Subscriptions will not be accepted in the branch office the final day. Promptly at four o’clock the doors of the campaign office will be c losed and contestants who are actually- in the office at that time will be waited on. their subscriptions received and votes placed in the ballot box. As soon as all in the office have voted, the ballot box will be sealed and turned over to the judges, who will take it to a public place, wher*» the count will be made. All secret ballots MUST be placed in the ballot box the last week or they will not bccounted. The judges will take info consideration and award the prizes on only such

ballots as are actually in the ballot box when the seal goes on on August 2. During the last week of the race no bonuses will be issued, and during the last week the box will be sealed, a slot being left open in the top to receive all secret ballots. The judges will be appointed by the contestants themselves. Every qualified contestant may have a representative present at the final counting to act as judge. The judges so appointed will organise the official counting committee from their number. This counting committee will have full charge of counting the votes and awarding the prizes. It makes no difference how many ballots a contestant may have in his possession, unless those ballots are deposited in the ballot box by the closing hour, they will not be counted by the judges. The Campaign Department or The Sun will not be responsible for money or ballots not arriving at the Campaign Department on time. This rule is final, and no exceptions will be made under any circumstances. For the last seven days of the competition no uncertified cheques of more than £5 will be accepted by the campaign manager. All remittances must be either by cash, bank drafts or post office money orders. Contestants receiving cheques for more than £5 during the last week of the campaign should either have them cashed or certified. No mistakes will be rectified in the voting ballots after the close of the campaign. Contestants who desire to have their account checked should call on the campaign manager as early as possible. It will be assumed that all ballots are correct for all contestants who do not call on tfee campaign manager for rechecking before July 29. Watch for announcement of the place where the count will be made. Pick the prize you desire and try hard to win! The list as published today shows only votes cast up until last Friday, July 4. Subscriptions paid in on Friday and Saturday will appear in the next count —tomorrow*.
