MAY STRIKE OIL

AMERICAN GEOLOGISTS HAVE HOPES FOR AUSTRALIA PATIENCE AND MONEY Reed. 10.30 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. A geological adviser, Dr. Woolnough, who is visiting the United States, has forwarded a report to the Prime Minister, Mr. J. H. Scullin, saying: “Without exception, the geologists with whom I have discussed the question are more favourably impressed with the ultimate prospects of oil discovery in Australia than I ever dared to be.

“All that is necessary is patience and money. I described the conditions in Australia, and that is their answer.

“The dimensions of oil leases, they add, must be at least 640 acres.”
