Remuera, is in command of the. New Zealand Shipping Company’s motor-liner Rangitiki, which left Southampton for New Zealand last Friday. Captain J. 11. Bruton, after 30 years’ absence, arrived in Auckland aboard the steamer Half ram last evening. Thirty years ago Captain Bruton was in charge of the wool clipper Peri, which operated between London and South Island ports. This is his first visit aboard a steamer. TOFUA SAILS SATURDAY.—The Union Steam Ship Company’s Island passenger steamer Tofua is to sail at 11 a.m. on Saturday with passengers, mails, and cargo for Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa. PORT ALMA LEAVES LONDON.—The C. and D. Line lias'received cabled news that the motor-ship Port Alma, left London on Friday for Auckland. Wellington and Napier. She is due at Auckland on August 7. PORT HUON AT PANAMA.—The Commonwealth and Dominion Line motor-ship Port Huon is reported to have reached Panama last Saturday, en route from Wellington to London. She sailed from Wellington on June 14. TARANAKI AT LONDON.—The Shaw. Savlll and Albion motor-ship Taranaki Is reported to have reached London from New Zealand last Saturday. She was dispatched from Wellington on May 31. and cleared Colon on June 29. THE PORT HARDY.—The Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Hardy, which sailed from Wellington for London, Avonmouth, Cardiff, Liverpool and Glasgow on May 33, is reported to havo reached Glasgow last Saturday. THE TASMANIA.—The New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Tasmania is reported to have reached Avonmouth on Saturday. The vessel was dispatched from Wellington on May 21 for Avonmouth. Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow, via Montevideo. HAURAKI REPORTS.—A wireless message received by the Union Company from its motor-vessel Hauraki states that she expects to reach Auckland on Saturday from the Pacific Coast, via Papeete. The vessel has a cargo of lumber, case oil, and general Pacific Slope merchandise for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, and Australian ports. THE RANGITANE.—The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the motor-liner, Rangitane, is now due at Wellington tomorrow from Napier, to complete her loading. She is scheduled to clear Wellington finally at daybreak on July 19 for Southampton and London, via the Panama Canal. CANADIAN CONSTRUCTOR SAILS. —After replenishing her oil fuel bunkers at the Western Wharf, the Canadian National steamer Canadian Constructor was removed to King’s Wharf yesterday morning to complete loading general cargo. Last evening she sailed for New York, Boston and Montreal. PAPANUI SAILS TOMORROW.—Now at Prince’s Wharf putting out the local consignment of her cargo of general merchandise from New York, the Federal steamer Papanui is to be dispatched at 3 p.m. tomorrow for Wellington. Lyttelton, Dunedin. Sydney and Melbourne to complete discharge. MIDDLESEX FROM LIVERPOOL.— The Federal lane steamer Middlesex was scheduled to leave Liverpool on Saturday with general merchandise from West Coast ports of Great Britain for discharge at Auckland, Wellington. Lyttelton and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland on August It. The NoAv Zealand Shipping Company is the local agent. THE POLZELLA.—Advice received by Spedding, Ltd., states that the stenmei* Polzella is expected to complete discharge of her Cuban sugar cargo in time to sail tomorrow night for Westport to take in bunkers. She will probably proceed from the coal port to Nauru Island to load a cargo of phosphates for Australia or New Zealand. THE WESTMORELAND.—The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Federal steamer Westmoreland was expected to leave Opua at noon today for Auckland for further loading for London and West Coast United Kingdom ports. She should arrive here late tonight or early tomorrow morning, and will berth at Queen's Wharf to take in cargo. She later sails for Southern ports to complete her cargo. ULIMAROA ARRIVES.—At about 11.45 o’clock this morning the HuddartParker steamer Ulimaroa arrived in port from Sydney with passengers, mails tnd cargo. After pratique had been granted she berthed at Queen’s Wharf. A passenger list appears on another page. She is scheduled to sail on her return trip to Sydney at 11 a.m. on Friday. MAHENO’S PASSENGERS.—The Union Company’s Malieno. which left Welling ton on Saturday afternoon for Bluff and Melbourne, tbok the following saloon passengers: Mrs. K. M. Armit and child. Miss J. X. Fuge; and 23 steerage. The vessel is due at Melbourne on Fridayaud she is to sail for Wellington, vG Bluff, Dunedin and Lyttelton, on July 17. DALFRAM FROM CUBA.—Carrying a full cargo of sugar, the steamer Dalfram arrived from Cuba last evening, but owing to her berth at Chelsea being occupied by the Polzella, which is to be dispatched on Thursday, is compelled to remain in the stream. The vessel experienced moderately fine weather throughout the trip. She is carrying a crew of 32, including 12 Arabs. The Dalfram is a new vesesl of 4,247 tons gross and is on her maiden voyage. She was built at Greenock and was completed this year. Her dimensions are: Length 406.5 ft: breadth, 55.1 ft; depth, 24.8 ft. She is owned by the United Steam Navigation Company, Limited, Newcastle. A. G. Frankham, Limited, is the local agent. Captain J. H. Bruton is in command and with him are the following officers:— Chief officer, Air. M. AVhite: second. Air. G. Lillie; third, Mr. V. W. Wilson; chh-f engineer, Air. R. Mitchell: second, Air. W. Linn; third, Air. H. Cairns; wireless operator. Air. R. Farmer; chief steward, Mr. J. Wilson. The ship is expected to leave for Westport on July 18,
THE TUTANEKAI. —The Government steamer Tutanekai was to leave Wellington at daybreak today for Auckland, via East Coast lighthouses. She is expected to reach Auckland toward the end of next week, and will afterward proceed to the Northern lighthouses. ASTORIA WITH PHOSPHATES. — Cabled advice received by Henderson and Alacfarlane, Ltd., states that the Danish motor-ship Astoria cleared Nauru Island on July 4 with a cargo of phosphates for unloading at Auckland. She is expected to arrive at this port on July 14. WAIHEMO DISCHARGING —The Union Company’s Waihemo arrived at Bluff on Sunday from Dunedin to continue discharge of her Pacific Coast cargo. She will leave again about Wednesday for Nelson and New Plymouth to comp T ete discharge. PORT BOWEN AT COLON.—Reported to have reached Colon last Saturday, the Cjmmonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Bowen is en route from Liverpool to Auckland. Wellington. Lyttelton and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland on July 29. Heather Roberton. Limited, is the local agenL H I K U R A N G I FOR NORFOLK ISLAND. —Arrangements are being made by James Smith and Company, Limited, to run the steamer Hikurangi in the Auckland-Norfolk Island cargo service. It is hoped to dispatch the vessel for Norfolk Island about the end of this week. Spedding, Limited, is the local agent. TAHITI AT SAN FRANCISCO. —Cabled advice has been received by the Union Company that the Tahiti, fi*om Syir.ey and Wellington, arrived at San Francisco at 7 a.m. on Friday. She is scheduled to leave again tomorrow for Papeete, Rarotonga, Wellington and Sydney, and is due at Wellington on July 2S. TAMAROA LOADING. —The Shaw. Savill liner Tamaroa commenced her Homeward loading at Lyttelton on Frida v. She is to leave there today for Fort Chalmers. Auckland and Wellington to fill up. The vessel is scheduled to clear Wellington finally at daybreak on July 30 for Southampton and London, via the Panama Canal. PORT FREMANTLE LOADING—The C. and D. Line motor-sh ip Port Fremantle arrived at Bluff on Sunday to complete discharge of her London cargo and to commence her homeward loading. She will subsequently load at Timaru, Lyttelton, New Plymouth. Wellington. Gisborne and Auckland. The vessel is due here on July 31, and is scheduled to pail finally from this port on August 2 for London, via the Panama Canal. EXAMINATION RESULTS.—The following are results of the latest nautical examinations conducted by the Marine Department:— Mr. A. C. G. Dale passed for his steam engineer’s certificate, third class. Mr. If. G. MacAulay passed for his oil engineer’s certificate, first class. Mr. A. Hall passed for his oil engineers certificate, first class. Mr. T. Mahoney passed for his oil en gineer’s certificate, second class. Mr. F. A Baxter passed for his oil engineer’s certificate, restricted limits. Mr. J. C. M. Davies passed for nl» master’s certificate, home trade. AUSTRALIAN SERVICE.—The following are the movements of Union Company vessels in their intercolonial cargo service:— The Kaiwarra left Newcastle on Friday for Picton, Nelson and Wellington, and is due at Picton on Thursday. The Kalingo from Melbourne. Sydney, and CofTs Harbour, left Newcastle on Saturday at 9 p.m. for Auckland, Napier, and Greymouth. She is due here on Friday. She will return to Coff's Harbour. Port Stephens, and Newcastle to load for Lyttelton, Timaru and Greymouth. The Kamona is due at Newcastle on Friday to load for Miramar and Gisborne. The Karetu from Sydney and Port Kembla was due at Hobart on Saturday to complete loading for Bluff. Dunedin and Lyttelton. The Kawatiri is to leave Wellington today for Newcastle to load for Mirimar. The Kekerangu from Newcastle is due at Lyttelton on Thursday and returns to Newcastle. The Kiwitea was to load at Adelaide yesterday, and complete at Edithburg, Wallaroo, and Melbourne for Auckland, Portland, New Plymouth, Wellington, Lyttelton and Timaru. The Omana left Port Kembla on Thursday for Bluff and Dunedin, and is due at Bluff tomorrow. The Poolt h is to leave Wellington on Saturday for Greymouth and Brisbane. The Kaimiro is to clear Newcastle tort a v for Auckland. She is due early next week.
