EX-SERVICEMEN’S CLUB
MEETING AT ONEHUNGA About 100 men attended an enthusiastic meeting in the Orphans’ Hall. Oneliunga, last evening, for the purpose of forming an ex-servicemen’s club in the borough. Major F. C. Soar presided, and Major A. J. Wallingford, Messrs. E. Morton and E. A. Wilson explained the objects of the movement. These were to assist their comrades in arms and social purposes. It was decided to request the permission of the Onehunga Borough Council to hold a flag day for the purpose of raising funds for unemployed ex-soldiers*, and to compile a list of those in want. An emergency committee was set up to deal with urgent cases of distress. It was agreed to hold the inaugural reunion on July 21. The following officers were elected:—President, Major F. C. Soar: vice-presi-dents. Major A. J. Wallingford. Captain Insley, Messrs. W. J. Jordan, E. Morton, and E. Ching: secretarv. Mr. E. A. Wilson: treasurer Mr. W. Harvey: committee. Messrs. C.
