Taverner, gave an assur:in,,c yesterday that the diversion tunnel at Arapuni was working satisfactorily. The Minister issued the fol--I(,"ing official statement: '.Since the partial blockage of the diversion tunnel on June .13 and 11. referred to in the statement given to the House on June 2G, the tunnel has been examined and reported to be without damage, either to the main structure or the gates. The gates are 1 u 1 1V efficient and can be operated when required. "There is evidence of the presence a piece of rock in front of the tunfl'T intake, but it is not obstructing the flow.”
