WATERED MILK
PROSECUTION FOLLOWS COMPLAINT DEALER FINED £lO Convicted in the Police Court this morning on charges of selling watered miik and committing a breach of the Sale of Food and Drugs Act, Philip Phillips was fined £lO. Defendant did not appear and Inspector Barrett said he took seven samples of the milk on April 5, when he visited a dairy at Takapuna, supplied by Phillips. The samples were submitted to the analyst, who found that there was from 5 per cent, to 10 per cent, of water in five of the samples. Phillips was in a fairly large way. He collected milk over a wide area and retailed to various suppliers. A warning had been given him last September. Phillips was fined £lO on the first charge, and on the second was con victed and ordered to pay costs. Included in the costs was an analyst's fee of 10s 6d on each charge.
