By “Noon Call” NO sales were made at the early call on the Auckland Exchange this morning*. The market remains quiet, although there is a greater feeling of confidence in many quarters, and the downward tendency of last week seems to have been checked.

buoyancy in the buying strength. British Tobaccos have dropped to see a middle price of 375; a small parcel changed hands at that price this morning. In the coal group Hikurangis have fallen right out of favour, and sellers i are unsupported; this company is reported to be having considerable difliculty in getting back the connection it held prior to the last Hooding. Other coal shares meet with a steady demand, although little actual business is recorded. New Zealand Breweries are a little firmer, with buyers offering 51s 6d, compared with sales last week at 51s. Farmers' Fertilisers are very firm, allowing the publication of the balance sheet. Wilsons Cements are quiet, with sellers unsupported. The gilt-edge section is very firm, with buyers predominating.
