BILL REFERRED TO HEALTH COMMITTEE OPPORTUNITY FOR EVIDENCE THE SUN'S Parliamentary Reporter WELLINGTON, Wednesday. So that the various women’s organ isations ot New Zealand will be able to make representations on the subject, the Nurses and Midwives’ Registration Amendment Bill, introduced in the House of Representatives today, was read a second time pro forma and referred to the Health Committee, before which the women’s societies will give evidence. When the Minister introduced the Bill, Mr. J. A. Nash (Reform —Palmerston) asked if the Bill were the same as that before the House last session and if not, in what respects was it changed? Mr. A. Harris (Reform —Waitemata) asked the Minister of Health, the Hon. A. J. Stallworthy, to give effect to the petitions before the House on the subject and allow the women’s organisations to give evidence. The Leader of the Labour Party, Mr. H. E. Holland, suggested that the Minister move the second reading of the Bill pro l’orma, so that it could be sent to a committee ot the House before which evidence could be given The Minister agreed to this step, and said the Bill would be referred to the Health Committee. The Bill was somewhat altered from last year Details of the Bill have been given in The Sun.
