Gaily decorated with multi-coloured streamers, greenery and oriental lanterns. the home of Mr. and Mrs. 1,. A. Jlargan, Matiere, made a delightful setting for more than 100 guests who gathered to welcome home t.wo daughters and sons-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. N. Laurie, of Te Aroha, and Mr. and Mrs. H. Hales, from Australia. Dancing and games entertained the guests. Music was supplied by Mrs. Ross and Miss K. Stevenson, Messrs. A. and J. Ross, Tackle, G. Goldring: and A. K Margan. A PRESENTATION After being- a member of the staff ot Messrs. Fullerton-Smith, Gordon and Co., for the past seven and abalf years, Miss R. Olsen, of Taumarunui, has left to tflko up residence in Otago. Prior to severing connections with the firm, Miss Olsen was the guest at a staff gathering, presided over by Mr. J. A. Gordon, and was presented with a cheque from the firm and a travelling rug from the staff * * * Very pretty decorations of greenery and artificial pink blossoms were used in the Ohura Hall on the occasion of tho annual dance of the sub-branch of the Plunket Society. There was an excellent attendance, and Mrs. H. Thompson's orchestra provided sparkling music tor a big company of dancers. Mr. H. Seerup was M.C. FAREWELL PARTY At Mrs. Skilton’s residence, Rangaroa« Taumarunul, a large number' of women met to bid farewell to Mr? A. Hamilton prior to lier departure for Dannevirko. Toward the conclusion of a pleasant afternoon, the guest was presented with an antique bronze jardiniere and beautiful vases. . Mr. and Mrs. ,7. Soler, new settlers m the Kaitieke district, were “raided” by a surprise party at their residence and welcomed to the locality last week. Mrs. J. Waldegrave, one of the most popular patronesses of sport in the Central King Country, had the pleasure of handing to the winner, the

Kaitieke Cricket Club, the cricket cup and banner secured during tho season. Tho ceremony took place at the Kaitieke Cricket Club's annual ball, a largely-attended event for which the Merry Five Orchestra supplied the latest music
