ALLIANCE OF REGIMENTS

An alliance between the Auckland Mounted Rifles Regiment and the Hus-

sars has been announced. His Majesty the King has been graciously pleased to approve an alliance betAveen the Third (King’s Own) Hussars and the Auckland Mounted Rifles Regiment, says a message received from England. The Auckland Regiment is now under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel AV C. H. Stevens, of Kaukapakapa. Alliances between other regiments of the territorial forces and others of the same branch of the British Army have occasionally been established in the past. Such a connection is not merely a matter of sentiment, for there is a definite value for a terirtorial unit to have its name linked with an Imperial one AA'hich cherishes long and proud traditions.
