WRESTLING ASSOCIATION

BRANCH FORMED IN LOWER WAIKATO MOVEMENT AT HUNTLY From Our Own Correspondent HUNTLY, Tuesday. A meeting was held last night at the Town Hall, at which Air. Edgar George, chairman of tho Town Hall Committee. ' presided. The object was to form a branch of the New Zealand Wrestling Association at Huntly, to comprise the Lower Waikato area. The conveners, Messrs. Wilf. Davies and Robt. Henderson, outlined the proposed movement, and it was unanimously resolved that a branch be formed in Huntly, to he affiliated with the New Zealand Wrestling Association and to be known as the Lower Waikato branch. The first contest will be staged on July 11 in the Town Hall, Huntly. Tho following officers were elected, with power to add: —Patron, Air. James B. Harris (Huntly); president. Air. Edgar George (Huntly); vice-presi-dents, Colonel A. Plugge (Taupiri) and. Mr. K. T. Reid (Hamilton); lion, surgeons, Drs. Alacdiarmid and McKay: committee, Messrs. E. George (chairman), YV. Davies, It. Henderson, Father Curley, Tonga Alahuta and J. A. King (Huntly), Wm. Clout (Rotowaro), Gus Avey (Ngaruawahia), Wi Waring and Norman Wilson (Taupiri), C. A*. Molony (Pukemiro Junction), Ken H. Kidd (Pukemiro Aline), C. B. Clarke (Rangiriri), J. Blakely (Glen Afton), and P. Snelding (Pukemiro); secretary (pro tern.), Air. R. Henderson. The newly-formed association will be represented at the wrestling contests at Auckland next Monday. George Walker, AlcDougall, Ebbett and others will, in due course, appear at the mining township and are assured of a warm welcome. The amateur contests will be restricted to five for the opening night. There are some very promising amateurs here. Muru, a son of the oldtimo native champion, Jack Aluru. is I available, and Mitchell (Glen Afton) is among others who are no mean exponents of the grappling art. The future of the Lower Waikato Association is most promising. A. strong endeavour is to be made !• match Walker anti Scotty AlcDougall ’ again for the opening night.
