AMATEUR ATHLETICS

CALLIOPE HARRIER CLUB The newly-formed Calliope l-larrier Club held its fortnightly meeting in the Methodist Hall, Birkenhead, last evening. Air. W. E. Patterson presided. The Hamilton Harriers wrote congratulating the club on its formation, and expressing willingness to meet the members in a friendly run on August 23, the race to be for teams of five. A distance of at least three miles, was suggested. It also offered to donate a small trophy to the first Calliope man home. These proposals were accepted. - It was decided to hold the official opening run of the club on July 12. The event will be a run of five miles, with a 300 yards run in.
