SPORTSMAN’S FAREWELL
PRESENTATION OF A RUG A pleasing little ceremony was carried out on Saturday evening last in the Hallyburton Johnstone Sports Club pavilion Point Chevalier. A presentation was made of a travelling rug, with monogram, to Mr. Hallyburton Johnstone, on the eve of his departure with the New Zealand representatives for the Empire Games in Canada. The presentation was made by Mr. F. G. Rose, supported by Mr. M. J. Coyle, as brother trustees. Mr. E. Schade, president of the Tennis Club, Mrs. M. C. Breckon, ‘secretary of the Croquet Club, and Mr. W. A. Phillips, secretary of the Bowling Club. The pavilion was gaily decorated for the occasion, about 50 couples being present. The evening was spent in dancing, during which supper was served, and a very pleasant evenimr was concluded by the singing of “Au!d Lang Syne.”
