HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLE The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, elated June 28, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: Tallow. —The market continues quiet. There was no auction this week, and prices are easier, but there was little more business at the decline. Present quotations for spot are: Mutton, fine 33s fair to ffood 30s to 31s fid, dark to dull 25s to 275. Beef: Sweet and/or tni'ced 355, fair to good 29s to 30s 6d, dark to dull 25s to 275. mixed fair to good 25s to 30s: gut, etc:., 23s to 2<is. Bruit. —The apple trade is very slow and prices easier. The present market prices are: Sturmer and Delicious, 9m to 12s: Dougherty, Statesman, Jonathan. Kokewood, and Tasman, 10s to Ids; Borne Beauty, Salome, and Premier, 10k to 11s; Granny Smith, 14s to 'ok. Prices for pears ex cool store are: Winter Nlelis, 15s; Beurre Baster, 12s» per crate. . Hemp.—The Manila market is quiet, but with a more steady, tone, and values are nominally unchanged. The sisal market, is quiet, and prices are lower. Large unsold arrivals are pressed for sale. No. 1, fair average quality, June-August shipment, and .) ulv-Sept ember shipment, sold as low as £24 10s; No. 2, £23 15s at the close. Sellers quote: October-Decem-ber-November- January shipment, No. 1, fair average quality, £25. ihe Mexican Co-operative has reduced prices equal to £25 18s 6d, c.i.f., New York, but buyers consider this too dear. The New Zealand market is very quiet, but with no selling pressure. High fair and fair afloat sold at £24; stocks in London at May 31 were 60 tons, against 55 tons at the same time last year. , . . .
