RICCARTON NOTES RADIATE IN GOOD FORM TUKU IMPROVING WELL Special to THE SI X CHRISTCHURCH, Today. • Danelagh was responsible for a fine trial over seven furlongs at Riccarton companion, but hopped away several lengths ahead of him. He closed on him as they turned into the straight and wholly outpaced him in the run down to the post, doing the full distance in 1.30 and having the advantage of four or live lengths at the end. Dunravni and Craigavon were w-dl matched over five furlongs, finishing together in 1.4 4-d. Desert Song was sent six furlongs alone, being clocked at 1.1 ft 2-5. He will be ridden by A. L. Ellis at Trentham. Lord Thomond was a couple of lengths too good for his younger stablemate, Painkiller, at the end of five furlongs in 1.3, the last half-mile taking Tuku, who is to go to Trentham for the hark six-furlong event, sprinted live furlongs alone in 1.5. He gave evidence on the second day of the South Canterbury meeting of being able to run out races better now and he has been improving steadily since coming to Riccarton. Master Clarence and Troilus were given useful work over five furlongs, and Kentish Lady was sent four furlongs at three-quarter pace on the Amorist was not jumped, but did a serviceable gallop over seven furlongs. Radiate was sent three t imes r< und on the sand. He looks none the worse for his race at Ashburton, and is at the verv peak of his form now. He curries no sign of lameness, and must he given a first-rate chance in the Wellington Steeplechase. A. E.
