FIRE AT OTAHUHU
HAIRDRESSER’S SHOP DAMAGED The Otahuhu Fire Brigade received a call at 7.30 o’clock yesterday morning to a shop leased by Mr. W. Absolum and sub-leased to Mr. Coe, at the corner of Great South Road and Avenue Road, Otahuhu. The seat of the fire was near a waterheater in the saloon and when the brigade arrived the flames had travelled up the inside of the wall to the ceiling, which was well alight. A plateglass window in the front of the shop and a mirror in the saloon were cracked by the heat. The tobacco stock was considerably damaged by water. A billiards saloon adjoining at the rear of the shop, managed by Mr. W. Absolum, was not damaged. The insurances are not available.
