CAR SMASHES WINDOW
EARLY-MORNING ACCIDENT I A large plate-glass v.indow in front of the shop of Rendells, Limited, in I Karangahape Road, was smashed at! 3 o’clock on Sunday morning when a j motor-car struck a tramway centre- 1 pole and careered across the road out | of control. The two young women in i the car escaped with minor injuries although the car was extensively I damaged. The woman driver said that she j thought she saw a man step off the '< kerb near Flaxson’s shop, and swerved ! to avoid him. The car crashed into a i pole, and a back tyre blew out. Out ! of control, the vehicle plunged across 1 the road, snapped a verandah pole into | three pieces and smashed into the win- ! dow. The bonnet of the car finished up among a disp'ay of men’s suits The radiator and front mudguards were damaged, and the windscreen was shattered, but little damage was done to the goods in the window. The young women in the car were cut by flying glass, and were severely jolted. They were able to get out of the car without difficulty, and received I treatment at the casualty ward of* the! j Auckland Hospital,
