For the first two miles of *6 Hunters’ Steeplechase at Te mutu on Saturday the favour’,tV Lucess. was a long wa> behind* The Lucullus gelding p u t , n ’ fine burst over the last two ard a-half mi»os. to finish second, but had no chance of catchina c* Warriga!. Subsequently R. Syme, rider c « Lucess. and W. J. McLean, trainewere brought before the Judicial Committee in connection with tE# running of the horse. The jockey reported that he had ridden to instructions, and this explanation was accepted. After the race Lucess was a bit lame, but it is to be hoped that this will not mean cutting cut the trip to Trentham for next week's racing there.
