AFTER A FIGHT
INTOXICATED DRIVER FINED TRYiNG TO GET AWAY In the Otahuhu Police Court todav. j William Henry Kendall was fined £ls and had his licence cancelled for 12 months for being intoxicated while in charge of a car. Sergeant Rowell said that about G. 30 ! on Saturday evening Constable Archi-! bald heard a commotion in a yard at the rear of an hotel. Tie found five i or six men fighting on the ground. Defendant was sitting in a car in -the ! yard. He was well under the influence of liquor and trying to start the car. He was a member of the army of unemployed but had plenty of money to buy beer. He was examined by a medical man. who said he was i intoxicated. Constable Archibald said Kendall j I’.r.d stated he had been hit in the t mouth by an unknown man. Dr. J. Currie said defendant was under the influence of liquor. Kendall said he had two long »■ handies but these did not affect him; it! was the hit by the unknown man that j stunned him. and he was doing his ' best to get away from the fight.
