TRAINING NEEDED
MECHANICAL WORKMEN The steps taken by manufacturers in the United States, in educating > oung workmen in the technical branches of their trade to secure higher efficiency, were outlined by Mr. S. E. Marler, at a meeting of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Association of Boot and Shoe Manufacturers on Thursday evening. The speaker considered the Dominion was to be congratulated on the excellent class of labour employed in industry. He believed that, with intelligent train ins. the standard of production in relation to size would be unsurpassed. A sub-committee was appointed r o investigate the position. A vote of thanks was passed to the speaker.
