TENNIS

MANUREWA CLUB ANNUAL MEETING Mr. L. W. Smith, president of the Manurewa Tennis Club, presided over a largo attendance of members, at the annual meeting of the club, held in the club-room on Wednesday evening. A recommendation was forwarded .to the incoming committee, that the club be incorporated, and also that steps be taken to obtain a lease of the playing - area from the Manurewa Town Board. It was decided that the club colours bo green and white, and that the opening day be October 11. In recognition of his past services as-secretary of the club for a number of years, Mr. L. INI. Pegler was elected a life member of the club, on the motion of Mr. T*. Brad burn. Tho election of officers resulted as follow:—Patron, the Earl of Orford; president, Mr. F. Barnard; vice-presi-dents. Messrs. G. Gallalier arrd A. G. Meredith; secretary, Mr. K. Light; assistant-secretary and treasurer, Mr. T\ Bradman; general committee, Misses Lupton, Finlayson, McFarlane, K. Grindrod, Messrs. B. Warlieh, Iv. Gibbons; club captain, Mr. L. M. Pegler; vice-captain. Mr. L. W. Smith; | ground superintendent. Mr. B. Pegler: i delegates to the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association. Messrs. L. M. ! Pegler and P. Bradburn.
