MR. RICHARD ALLEN The death has occurred of Mr. Rich- j nrd Allen, aged 69, formerly a well- ! known flourmiller.—P.A. MR. F. R. COOKE The death is reported from Christchurch of Mr. Frederick Riley Cooke, aged 64. a member of the City Council and a prominent Socialist for 30 years. He was highly regarded by all parties. He was born in Bradford. England. —P.A. MR. W. WILSON A well-known resident of the Cambridge district, Mr. William Wilson, lias died at the age of 73. Born in Somerset. England. Mr. Wilson came to New Zealand 50 years ago and had lived in the Cambridge district practically ever since. MRS. G. T. SCOTT Mrs. Mary Helen Scott, widow of the 1 ite Mr. G. T. Scott, who has died at New Plymouth, was born in Elgin. Scotland, and came to New Zealand 20 Nears ago. living at Napier and then Auckland, but moved to New Plymouth 3 0 years ago. Mrs. Scott was .i prominent temperance worker. She is survived by two sons and two daughters. MR. G. R. MORPETH An old identity of Ponsonby. Mr. < reorge Robert Morpeth, died on Tuesday at the age of S2. He was the third son of tlie late Mr. H. IT. Morpeth. and arrived in Auckland with his parents by the brig Prince Edward in 3 859. after a six months’ voyage from < ’harlottetown. Prince Edward Island. Canada. He worked on the Thames goldfield and later joined the firm of Cruickshank. Miller and Co., Auckland. Mr. Morpeth went to Australia at the time of the opening of the Koolgardio goldfield, but returned in 1897, taking over the control of Morpeth Bros., with which he was associated until his death. He was unmarried, and is survived by a sister, Airs. K. H. Haszard. of Auckland.
